A SHORT STORY

Once upon a time, there was a man who had a heart but unfortunately inadvertently lost it because he had a nasty habit of giving his heart away easily and undiscriminatorily to everyone until none was left for him.

He had been wandering for years through the deserts, mountains, sailing rivers and oceans in search for the heart, and while searching, he completely forgot what he was looking for. He developed an unfortunate habit of being forgetful.

While he was wandering alone, he saw people passing by, and a plain simple girl gave him her heart because she fell deeply in love with him. He took her heart irreverently and put it in the place where the hole was. Being not satisfied with the plainness of the girl he left her and went on.

Other girls he met on the road were looking at him, letting him know that they wanted to be with him, but even though he noticed them he didn't give them a time of the day because he found fault with each of them. By refusing or being scared to give his heart away he lost it again.

After much wandering weary he went to the clockmaker to have his hole replaced with a clock.  Instead of the clock, the old clock repairman gave him a new heart and installed it.

The man as good as new, overjoyed, went back into the world to seek love, after suddenly remembering that he had been looking for love all along. Out of the blue, he met a beautiful girl he had always dreamed of, but she took his heart and broke it into pieces.

The moral of the story: the man regretted that the hole where his heart was, was not replaced by some old clock instead.

Of course, this is not the rightful moral of the story, but I am sure you are smart enough to figure it out for yourself.

He could have been singing the song below but he blew it.
